The Nutality Energy Butter Story
In the summer of 2017 I was completing my fifth sprint triathlon of the season and by the time I started the running portion of the triathlon I was very hungry. But unlike the previous 4 races, this time I had packed an energy bar, the only one I new I could tolerate flavour-wise: a Chocolate Sea Salt RX Bar.
I have always struggled with energy bars since most are either too sweet, too dry, too chalky or have an unpleasant aftertaste. Up until then the RX Bars had been ok for the most part, except that I had never tried to run and chew one at the same time. Wow, was I in for a surprise! This was a very chewy bar and right away it was all over my teeth making it impossible to swallow while running.
As I approached the finish line all I could think about was: I have this energy bar all over my teeth and they are about to take my picture, help!!
I resigned myself to closing my mouth thinking there had to be a solution to this problem. Sadly, after much googling I realized there was no solution. Yes I could have a gel, but that sweetness is just too much for me. There was nothing that had the nutrition and was also easier to eat and swallow than a bar, especially while running. Something that was easy to carry and open (even with both hands on the bike), and did not stick to your mouth like the nut butters.
Nothing like I wanted existed, so I set out to make it myself.
After 2 long years of development, in the summer of 2019, I finished the development of Nutality (Nut + Vitality!), and in my seemingly endless mixing and tweaking I ended up creating a new food category altogether: energy butters!
Energy butters come packaged in the same type of pouch as energy gels, yet have the nutritional density of an energy bar, and while their main component is nut butters, they do not stick to your palate while eating. They are a very smooth paste, easy to eat and swallow, easy to digest and multi-functional.
So, grab 3, or 30 and bring them to your next triathlon, or your next car ride. Share them with your loved ones, or not at all (hey, we won't judge). Eat them by themselves or with a banana and toast and make it a Nutality sandwich, or add to your oatmeal instead. Energy butters are highly functional, and very delicious!
And know that for sure, when you are crossing YOUR finish line, with Nutality energy butter in hand, you can smile wide open, because there will be nothing sticking to your teeth!
PS: Nutality energy butters are vegan, gluten free, all natural, and packed full of superfoods. They are also an all season snack: they do no melt in the summer or freeze in the winter, how cool is that!!
